Our Mission
To improve the health of the most vulnerable in our global community by leveraging Mass General’s 200-year legacy of innovation in medical care, education, and scientific discovery.
Improving the health of underserved communities is firmly rooted in Mass General’s mission. More than 200 years ago, in a letter making a case for the creation of the hospital, our founders declared that, “when in distress, every man becomes our neighbor.” Today, the world is our neighbor and serving the most vulnerable in our global community is the mission of the Center for Global Health.
The Center for Global Health creates a virtual front door to global health at Mass General. It offers a way for staff members to work together and contribute their expertise to improving global health. The center joins with communities working at the frontlines of health equity issues and facilitates partnerships with academia, governments, philanthropists and corporations to make a more powerful impact together.
The Mass General Center for Global Health is committed to serving vulnerable populations around the world by applying the hospital’s extraordinary strengths in patient care, research and innovation, education and community service.

Universal access to exceptional and dignified patient care is the goal of global health equity and at the heart of all of our work.
Community Service
We partner with communities both close to home and across oceans to build, improve and sustain health care delivery and increase the health and well-being of those who live and work in these communities.
