As a leading physician scientist on HIV adherence and antiretroviral therapy, Dr. Bosco Bwana impacted the lives of thousands of individuals living with HIV both in Uganda and abroad.
Dr. Bosco showed true compassion, caring for his patients like they were a part of his family and educating his students to do the same. For this reason, Bosco was adored by both the staff and patient community at MGH partner site, Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) and will leave a lasting legacy on HIV care.
Dr. Bosco was a brilliant researcher and co-PI on many MGH-MUST research studies. His leadership helped catalyze a decade-long MGH-Uganda research partnership that has transformed MGH’s approach to international collaboration.
Dr. Bosco Bwana was known and loved by everyone at MGH who had the privilege to work with him. For many, Bosco was more than a colleague, but a part of our family. His dedication and kindness made him an anchor of the MUST-MGH Global Health Collaborative.
Bosco will be truly missed by the entire MGH global health community. Together, we will do our very best to continue Bosco’s legacy through our work, our relationships, and commitment to global health equity.
Dr. Bosco is survived by his loving wife and Sr. Program Manager of the MGH Global Health Collaborative, Annet Kembabazi Mwebesa, and their three children – Ruth Ainembabazi, Faith Angel Asiimwe, Seth Ankunda – as well as host of extended family, colleagues and friends.
MGH Center for Global Health will host a virtual memorial service for Dr. Bosco on Tuesday, November 10th, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. EST/ 5:00 p.m. EAT. Virtual details to follow.
