Ms. Staples is the International Nurse Program Director at the MGH Center for Global Health as well as working clinically in the Emergency Department of Massachusetts General Hospital. Prior to joining the Center for Global Health, Monica served in the Center for Disaster Medicine overseeing training for the Biothreat Response Team. She has over a decade of experience in emergency management, disaster and hazmat response and extensive clinical training in wilderness medicine and humanitarian response. Monica has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including general medicine, global health, flight medicine, emergency medicine, and clinical and classroom instruction. Monica received her BA from Trinity University, her AD in Nursing from Laboure College and her MSN with a concentration in Acute Care Nursing from Northeastern University. She completed the Doctor of Nursing Practice and her research focuses on the recruitment and retention of nurses providing humanitarian care.
