Fellow, Global Non-Communicable Diseases Research Training Program

Dr. Leah Ratner, MD, MS, DTM&H (she/her) completed her combined internal medicine and pediatrics training at Georgetown University Hospital before pursuing a global health fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital. During her fellowship, she began working with the Brigham and Women’s and Boston Children’s hospital adult Cystic Fibrosis (CF) team. Additionally, during that time she supported the derivation of a pediatric to adult transition program at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Ghana, where she remains passionately committed to addressing structural inequities affecting young adults and adolescents with chronic diseases. With a longstanding commitment to Ghana, Dr. Ratner has been actively involved in collaborations there since 2007. As an early career investigator, she received a PACE award from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to enhance her expertise in adult CF care. Her research is driven by a passion for understanding and dismantling the structural inequities embedded in race, disability, sexuality, and gender, particularly within the context of Cystic Fibrosis. She is committed to improving health outcomes for marginalized populations affected by CF globally.

Her mentors include Dr. R. Elaine Cagnina (BWH) and Dr. Peter Rohloff (BWH).
