Brett M. Berry

Brett Berry is the founder and Managing Director of Bacca Capital, LCC, an early-stage venture capital enterprise with concerns currently in the United States and India.  Prior to Bacca Capital, Mr. Berry was President/CEO of The Fresh Market (NASDAQ: TFM), where he was employed from 1998 to 2009.   Mr. Berry currently sits on the Board of Directors for The Fresh Market as its Vice Chairman.  Before his time in high-end grocery retail, Mr. Berry consulted to national and international telecommunications companies while he worked at Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman Consulting).

Mr. Berry’s philanthropic endeavors are channeled through his family foundation, The Bacca Foundation.  In addition to its work with the Center for Global Health at Massachusetts General Hospital, The Bacca Foundation supports early detection of cancer research at the Canary Center at Stanford University.  The Bacca Foundation is also focused on transformative secondary education through its involvement with Duke University and Davidson College.   Representing The Bacca Foundation and in addition to serving on the Advisory Board at the Center for Global Health at MGH, Mr. Berry sits on the Board of Visitors of Davidson College.  He also serves on the board of eTown, a nationally syndicated radio broadcast building community through music.

Mr. Berry received an A.B. in English Literature from Davidson College, a J.D. from the University of North Carolina, and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
