This activity is intended for HIV clinicians and caregivers, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physicians' assistants.

The presentation will focus on the epidemiology, risk factors, genetics, and pathophysiology of acute and chronic kidney disease in antiretroviral therapy adults living with HIV. It will also focus on areas of active research and potential interventions to reduce risk of progressive kidney disease among people living with HIV and improve outcomes for those who develop end-stage renal disease and those who undergo kidney transplantation.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Integrate pathophysiology of HIV’s effect on the kidney with identification of risk factors for renal disease
2. Use case-based scenarios to understand the spectrum of abnormal urine testing in patients with HIV and implement appropriate follow-up testing and referral for patients with abnormal urine results
3. Recognize potential nephrotoxicities of different antiretroviral agents and appropriate GFR cutoffs for using those treatments
